What is Flower Route Planning?
Flower route planning, sometimes called “hub-and-spoke” route planning, is a strategic method to organize daily collections in microfinance. The term is derived from the visual resemblance of a flower, with the central branch (hub) and various connecting routes (spokes). Here’s how it works:
- Central Branch (Hub): The central branch serves as the hub. This is where all collections and disbursal activities originate. Field officers start and end their daily journeys at the central branch.
- Client Meetings (Spokes): From the central branch, field officers follow various routes, often referred to as spokes. Each route is dedicated to visiting different clients or borrower groups.
